Allen Macdonald

My name is Allen Macdonald, and I’m the founder of 3D Precision Works. My work is driven by accuracy, clarity, and practical experience gained across drafting, engineering support, and construction environments.

I started using AutoCAD in high school, where I developed a strong foundation in technical drafting and spatial problem-solving. After graduating, I joined the U.S. Army and served for five years. That experience instilled discipline, attention to detail, and a results-driven mindset that continues to influence how I approach every project.

After my military service, I attended community college and earned certification in industrial drawing, strengthening my technical skill set and understanding of fabrication and construction requirements. I then spent eight years working for a large farming company in California within the engineering department, where I supported industrial and agricultural operations through detailed drawings, layouts, and coordinated design solutions. This role gave me extensive experience working alongside engineers, translating concepts into accurate, buildable documentation.

I later relocated to Montana and worked for a small lighting design company for a year and a half. There, I produced fabrication-ready drawings and collaborated closely with designers, installers, and clients to ensure designs were accurately executed in the field.

Most recently, I transitioned into the construction industry as a BIM Coordinator, focusing on model coordination, clash detection, and constructible documentation. I work directly with project teams to ensure models are accurate, coordinated, and ready for construction—bridging the gap between design intent and field installation.

3D Precision Works was created to deliver dependable drafting, 3D modeling, and BIM coordination services rooted in real-world engineering and construction experience. Every drawing and model I produce is built with precision, clarity, and the end user in mind.

Thank you.
